Concept of Health as per Ayurveda

 

“ Being Healthy is the foremost Happiness."

Ayurveda


      The person is called healthy if he/she has balanced state of Dosha, Dhatu, Mala,  Agni and happy and balanced state of Atma (soul), Indriya (sence Organs), mana (mind). 

   à¤¸à¤®à¤¦ोष: समाग्निश्च समधातुमलक्रियः |

   à¤ª्रस्सनात्मेन्द्रियमना: स्वस्थ इत्यभिधियते |

                                              ( सु. सु. 15/47 )

§  Dosha  :-  Three bio energies ; 1.Vata 2. Pitta 3. Kapha

            Functional and Structural units of our Body. These three dosha are responsible for creation of human body and its constitution.

            Doshas are the energies which have the nature to get disturbed and vitiate other body structures.

            Healthy and Unhealthy condition of a human being depends on normal and abnormal condition of tridosha.

 

§  Dhatu  :-  Seven tissue responsible for the stability and growth of  Body.

     1. Rasa ( Plasma or Lymph) 

     2. Rakta ( Blood)

     3. Mamsa (Muscle) 

      4. Meda (Fat Or Adipose Tissues)

     5.Asthi (Bones) 

     6. Majja (Bone Marrow) 

     7.Shukra ( Semen)

               Dhatu is responsible for Gratification,  Maintenance of life, to cover various Organs,  for lubrication  and for Reproduction and many others.

Mala :- Waste Products of  Body

 1. Mutra (Urine)  2. Purish ( Feces)   3.Sweda (Sweat)

           Health is maintained when these waste products are eliminated properly. When they accumulated in excess various diseases are produced.

 

§  Agni :- Factors  responsible for Digestion and Metabolism.

 

§  Prassanna Atma  Indriya Mana :-  If  a person has disease free it doesn’t means he/she is healthy but also wellbeing of Atma (Soul) , Indriya ( Sense organs ),  Mana (Mind)  is  important.

       So,  for better health all these components should be remain in balanced state.

 

·      Defenation of  Health According  to WHO

       Health is a state of complete Physical , Mental , Social and Spiritual wellbeing and not merely  the absence of disease or infirmity.

        So, Modern science also focused on Mental and Spiritual Health Nowadays.

 

·       Aim of Ayurveda

          स्वस्थस्य स्वास्थयरक्षणम् आतुरस्य विकारप्रशमनम च ||   ( च. सु  30 )

           Maintain the health of healthy person and treat the disease of patient.Ayurveda gives priority to maintain the healthy state of a normal human being.

 Information for living healthy and Happy

                

 §  Dincharya :- Daily routine like Walking , Exercise , Massage , Bathing , Meals, Work , Relaxation ,  Sleeping  etc.

    Ayurveda also describes that every person has Unique prakriti ( Constitution ) is also responsible for the health and disease , so follow proper diet and daily regimen according to your Prakriti ( Constitution).

  Ritucharya :-  Use Diet and Regimen according to season.

Sadvritta :-  This is code of conduct for the keeping balanced condition of body and  mind.

       Mental and spiritual health is also important so , maintain this. For this one should remain always be truthful, Do not harm anyone, he/she has control over his/her emotions, Be courageous, stay positive and active, Respect parents, elders and teachers,  and learn to be tolerant.

       One can help the poor and needy, attend the social duties and follow the path of righteousness. All these good things comes under the code of conduct.

       Living a healthy lifestyle can help prevent illness. Take care of your self by doing and eating what is right for your health.

      So,live happy and healthy life by following all these regimen properly.
